Metro Boston is a literacy and mentoring organization dedicated to increasing children's prospects for success in school and in life. We work to generate enthusiasm for reading and improve children's literacy skills through the Power Lunch program, which matches adults from local businesses and organizations with elementary schoolchildren, one lunch hour per week, to share good books and conversation. We offer Power Lunch at 13 schools in 8 greater Boston cities and towns. In 2007-2008, we were able to provide weekly reading mentors for 501 children and hope to reach 750 children each week in 2008-2009.
